WELLNESS, EXERCISE, HEALTH AND FITNESS ARE DEEPLY INGRAINED IN MY VALUES AND ROUTINE. I’M LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO WORK WITH A BROAD VARIETY OF PEOPLE – NO TWO DAYS ARE THE SAME. IT IS MY PASSION, IT’S WHAT PUTS A SMILE ON MY FACE, AND IT’S WHAT DRIVES ME TO KEEP SHARING MY KNOWLEDGE WITH OTHERS.
Originally, when I left school I wanted to study medicine to be a Doctor, but I quickly realised the way to help people the most was to address their health issues before they got to the stage that they needed medical care. I don’t want to prescribe medication to hide and aliment, I want to prescribe nutrition, movement and life balance so people can be vibrant and live the lives they were born to live.
I naturally fell into studying a Bachelor of Science in Physiology at Victoria University, going on to then do a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Otago where I graduated with a Distinction and the Scholarship for Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in my year. Since then, I have worked as a physiotherapist, then switched to Personal Training in 2006 and have been involved with health since then. To round out my knowledge I studied a Post Graduate Certificate in Human Nutrition and my ISAK Accreditation in Anthropometry (body composition and structure).
I feel that many people are affected by having imbalanced lifestyles and these imbalances are often not addressed by the medical professions in fullness, leaving people feeling like they are going round in circles trying to work out why they can’t lose weight, why they have injuries that won’t heal, and why they have trouble getting fitter and achieving their goals.
I believe the body works in a balance, and once you can get yourself into a healthy state and balance, goals can be set and your body can really flourish.
I currently compete in Long Distance and Standard Distance Triathlon, and Cycling. I am passionate about helping others to achieve their sporting goals specifically in the areas of running, cycling and triathlon.
I am a qualified Level 1 NZ Triathlon Coach and I have raced for NZ as an Age Group Representative Athlete both in Standard Distance (Beijing, China) and Sprint Distance (Auckland, New Zealand) in Triathlon. I have also qualified to race in France and Oaklahoma in Long Course Triathlon and Chicago in Standard Distance Triathlon.
From goal setting through to assisting with nutrition, setting programmes, organising rehabilitation programmes, and Real Food Plans, I can help those from the podium placers, to the weekend warriors. There is no goal that is consisdered insignificant and no achievement that goes unnoticed.
